Dred: The Upstairs Hall
Image

Among the unique attractions of Jeremiah Wolfe's Hundred Mile Inn were the so-called "Gargoyle Doors" carved for the guest rooms by Pennsylvania artisan Gregor Durer.  Guests came from miles around just to see these hand-carved curiosities.  Durer has, of course, long since been recognized as a master carver, and these oaken doors are considered some of his best work.

None of the original doors remain at the inn.  Eight reside in various musuem collections, including two in the American Art Museum at the Smithsonian.  It is unclear how many were completed, but it is belived that not all have been accounted for.
